Dole’s organic program offers consumers an alternative to conventionally produced bananas and pineapples.

Dole’s organic products meet the high standards of quality that Dole customers have come to expect.

While our conventional production is primarily based on the principles of IPM, Dole has developed and adopted new and alternative growing methods to provide consumers with a choice, including organic products (termed biological agriculture in Europe). After years of extensive research, Dole began offering its customers certified organic bananas in 2001. Organic bananas are grown on Dole-owned farms in Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras and the Philippines and sourced from independent growers in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. In the United States and Canada, these organic bananas are primarily marketed as DOLE ORGANIC and in Europe under the YOUR CHOICE™ label.

Dole’s organic pineapples are sourced from an independent grower in Costa Rica and are sold in the United States, Belgium, Canada and Holland under the YOUR CHOICE™ label. Dole is also now developing its own organic pineapple farms.
The organic program provides Dole with the opportunity to evaluate the means to further reduce or eliminate the use of crop protection products in conventional production while measuring the impact on yield, cost and environmental quality.
